Empowering Black Men's Health

My Birthday Wish

Today, as I celebrate my 69th birthday, I am filled with gratitude and reflection. Back in April 2023, I was confronted with a life-changing diagnosis: stage 3 prostate cancer, with a PSA of 27 and a Gleason score of 4+3. Faced with this challenge, I made a commitment to learn as much as I could about this disease, which disproportionately affects African American men.

In my quest for knowledge, I sought a second opinion at the renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Prostate Center in New York. This decision was pivotal, leading me to receive exceptional care, including HD Brachytherapy with SBRT/Proton radiation therapy(New York Proton Center) followed by six months of ADT. I am incredibly grateful for the outstanding medical team that guided me through this journey, and today, as I celebrate another birthday, I am filled with appreciation for the opportunity to continue living.

I am thrilled to share that I have achieved a PSA of 0.05, nine months post-treatment. This milestone is not just a personal victory; it underscores the importance of early detection and proactive health management. It is a testament to the dedication I have toward advocating for Black men’s health.

As the founder of Know Your Numbers DC, an initiative aimed at encouraging early testing for prostate cancer and other diseases affecting African American men, I am committed to promoting awareness and education in our community. I believe that by becoming informed KYNDC.com partners in our healthcare, we can change the narrative around men’s health.

On this special day, I kindly ask for your support. If you feel moved to honor my birthday or anyone in your family affected by this disease, please consider making a donation to KYNDC.com.

Your contribution will help us continue our mission to empower Black men across the city to take charge of their health.

Thank you all for your prayers, support, and love. Here’s to life, health, and making a difference together!

Cheers!
